[Pattern] Laurel Vest - English

Modular knitting kids vest with my favorite patchwork motif.
Pattern is technically edited and test knitted.

Construction:
This vest is designed to be worn with either side as front.
First you make a patchwork block, then pick up the stitches along the four edges (one edge at a time) and knit the rest of the body to complete the vest. It’s knitted back and forth in garter stitch throughout. And the front and back panels are grafted together at the shoulders.
Lastly, stitches are picked up all the way around the entire edge of the vest and finished with i-cord edging.
You can either attach an open end zipper, buttons and button loops or straps to tie.

knit, kfb, M1L, k2tog, ssk, W&T, kitchener stitch, i-cord BO, cable CO etc

The intended ease at chest is 10 -15 cm / 4 - 6’’

Yarn
Worsted or DK weight yarn
Approx. 270 (330, 370, 420, 460) (510, 560, 600, 650) m / 295 (361, 405, 459, 503) (558, 612, 656, 711) yards for MC.
Approx. 12 m / 13 yards each for CC1, CC2.
Approx. 24 m / 26 yards for CC3.
You can alternate it with Fingering weight yarn held double.

Gauge:
23 sts and 46 rows = 10 cm / 4” in garter stitch, using 3.5 mm / US4 needle, blocked.

Needles:
100 cm / 40’’ circular needle in size 3.5 mm / US4 or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions:
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
waste yarn and crochet hook for provisional cast on
spare cables or waste yarn for holding stitches
optional dpns for i-cord straps
optional open end zipper or buttons
